Children learning EnglishAre your tutors paid?
No, our tutors are trained community volunteers.

What is my commitment as a tutor or student?
Both tutors and students are asked to commit two hours a week for a year.

What happens if I want to go on vacation?
Many of our tutors take short vacations during the year.
We just ask that you inform your student and our office.

Where does the tutoring take place?
Our council provides four large tutoring classrooms
including a library and resource room.

Who trains your tutors?
A team of current and retired teachers provides the initial training and subsequent support sessions?

Do tutors need to provide the instructional materials?
No, a wide variety of materials is available in our resource room. All students are tested before being assigned a tutor.

How old are the students?
We work with students third grade and up and adults of any age.

Do I need to know another language to tutor?
No, only proficiency in English is required.

Tutors must be at least 18 years of age.
